Obama Curry

I came up with this on the night after Obama was elected, so I decided to name it after him. Not too spicy, nice, level taste. Try it!

  • 500g diced beef, lamb or chicken, whatever you prefer
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 finger of ginger
  • 1 tsp coriander, ground
  • 1 tsp cumin, ground
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp tumeric
  • 2 fresh red chillies
  • 1/2 tin coconut milk (200 ml)
  • 50g greek yoghurt
  • 2 tsp butter
  • a small bunch of finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • salt and pepper to taste

Fry the onion in butter (ghee if you have it) until translucent. Add the meat and fry until brown. Add the spices, fry for 2 minutes, and then add the coconut milk. Simmer until your meat is tender (roughly an hour for beef). Add the peanut butter (optional, only if you like the taste).

At the end, add the finely chopped coriander leaves. Serve with rice.
