BBQ Sauce

  • 400g tin of chopped tomatoes
  • 200g molasses
  • 100ml vinegar
  • 1 grated onion
  • salt
  • 1 red chilli
  • 2 tsp worcester sauce
  • 1 finely chopped clove of garlic
  • equal amount of finely chopped ginger
  • ground allspice

Put all ingredients into a saucepan (no need to fry up the onion first, we want the juice of the onion to be part of the sauce), bring to a boil and simmer half an hour. Put through a blender, and boil down until the consistency is right (another half hour with the lid removed).

The sauce can be put into sterilized jam jars and will keep that way.
